How to get an app that’s not available in your region
Why you might want to change your App Store country
Many apps are not available in certain local App Stores. The list depends on your specific region:
- Streaming services
- Games
- Messengers
- VPN services
Most of them can still be downloaded from App Stores associated with other countries or regions.
There are two options
Get an additional Apple ID
Recommended
Best choice you if you have paid subscriptions you don’t want to cancel.
Requires a phone number not previously used for an Apple ID.
Change your existing Apple ID region
Fast
Best choice if you don’t have an extra phone number.
Most convenient if you don’t have App Store subscriptions.
Creating an additional Apple ID
Step 1. Create a new Apple ID in another country
- Go to https://appleid.apple.com/account.
- Enter any first and last name and select the desired country. We recommend United States because most apps are available there.
- Enter an email address that is not linked to any Apple ID. You’ll receive a confirmation code.
- Enter a phone number that is not linked to any Apple ID (can be from any country). You’ll receive a confirmation code.
- Confirm your email address and phone number and click Continue.
Done! Your new Apple ID is ready to be linked to the App Store.
Creating an additional Apple ID
Step 2. Link your new Apple ID to the App Store
- Open Settings and click your name.
- Tap Content & Purchases → Sign out. You’ll only log out of the App Store — that won’t affect your Apple ID on your phone.
- Tap Content & Purchases again and select Not [your name]? You’ll be prompted to log in to a different Apple ID.
All done! You can access previously unavailable apps and receive updates. Switch between your accounts anytime.
Changing region in your existing account
Step 1. Find the necessary settings
- Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap your name, select Media & Purchases → View.
- Tap Country/Region. If you have active subscriptions, Apple will notify you that they need to be canceled. To do that, go to App Store → Account → Purchase History. You will still be able to use your subscriptions for remaining purchased time.
Changing region in your existing account
Step 2. Select a country and fill out the form
- Select the desired region. We recommend United States because most apps are available there.
- Select a payment method. If you don’t have a payment method associated with the desired county, select None.
- Enter the billing address for the desired country. You can use any address. Make sure to provide a ZIP code that is associated with the desired city. You can google exact street names and ZIP codes.
All done! You can access previously unavailable apps and receive updates.
